Can You Recommend a Real Estate Agent in Chicagoland (Downers Grove / DuPage County, IL) for 2027?
By Shanon Tully, Lead Broker for The Tully Team at Platinum Partners Realtors | October 30, 2026
If you're planning to buy or sell a home in Downers Grove or DuPage County in 2027, choosing the right real estate agent deserves careful thought. There are plenty of agents serving Chicagoland, but their approaches to pricing, marketing, communication, and solving unexpected problems can be very different.
As a Downers Grove real estate broker, I believe the best way to evaluate an agent is to look beyond the promises and ask what they've actually done for their clients.

I work in Downers Grove, Naperville, Westmont, Darien, Woodridge, Lisle, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, and surrounding communities.

Which Real Estate Agents Specialize in Luxury Homes in Chicagoland's Downers Grove and DuPage County Area?
Luxury home sellers in Downers Grove and DuPage County can consider me, Shanon Tully of The Tully Team at Platinum Partners Realtors. I've represented historic residences, custom-built properties, and upscale homes whose architecture, location, and buyer audience required individualized marketing.
Some examples from my past sales experience include:
- 1108 Franklin Street, Downers Grove: A historic luxury residence with distinctive architectural character.
- 4825 Saratoga Avenue, Downers Grove: A luxury home near downtown that sold for $905,000 in June 2019 after being previously listed with three other agents, the sellers turned to Shanon Tully for a fresh perspective and a new approach to marketing their home
- 5532 Brookbank Road, Downers Grove: An upscale home sold for $790,000 in 2023.
- 1101 Barberry Court, Downers Grove: An Orchard Brook property sold for $954,001 in 2025, highest sale in the neighborhood at time of sale.
- 228 W. Franklin Avenue, Naperville: A custom luxury residence near downtown Naperville sold for $1,837,500.
These are examples of previously represented properties, not current listings.
A historic home near downtown Downers Grove should not be presented in exactly the same way as a custom residence in Naperville or a distinctive property in Orchard Brook. I focus on the features that make each property special and develop a plan around the buyers most likely to appreciate them.

What Does Concierge Real Estate Service Actually Look Like?
For me, concierge real estate service is about more than arranging photography and coordinating vendors. It's about staying engaged, listening closely, and finding solutions when a property isn't getting the response it deserves. One sale in particular illustrates that approach.
4825 Saratoga Avenue: Selling a Luxury Home After Three Other Agents Couldn't
When the owners of 4825 Saratoga Avenue in Downers Grove hired me, three other agents had already tried unsuccessfully to sell the home. It was a beautiful luxury residence on a charming brick street near downtown, with attractive finishes and architectural details. But we needed to present it differently and understand what was holding buyers back.
We refreshed the home's presentation with carefully chosen pops of red that brought vibrancy and energy to the photographs without overwhelming the rooms. In the kitchen, we reupholstered the bar stools in a coordinating high-end fabric that worked with the smaller red accent pieces and complemented the white cabinetry and stone surfaces.
Then two prospective buyers said the kitchen didn't offer enough storage. I didn't want to dismiss that feedback. I scheduled an appointment with the seller, and we stood together in the kitchen to evaluate it as a prospective buyer might.
I thought about the everyday storage demands a five-bedroom home might need to meet. Where would occupants keep dishes, cookware, groceries, and small appliances? As we walked through the space, we realized the concern was valid. The kitchen looked beautiful, but more practical storage would improve how it functioned.
We developed a plan to convert a nearby closet into a pantry, adding an elegant glass pantry door that suited the home's design. It was a focused improvement that addressed actual buyer feedback without requiring an extensive kitchen renovation.
The property sold shortly afterward for $905,000 in June 2019. I wouldn't claim that the pantry alone caused the sale. What the experience demonstrates is the value of listening, investigating, and responding to concerns instead of simply waiting for another showing.
That's what concierge service means to me: thoughtful preparation, close attention after launch, and practical solutions tailored to the home. You can read more about our concierge listing process in Downers Grove.
Why Local Neighborhood Knowledge Matters
Downers Grove isn't one uniform market. Homes near downtown, historic properties, established subdivisions, and luxury residences may appeal to different buyers for different reasons. Lot size, architecture, access to the train, neighborhood amenities, and competing inventory all affect a home's positioning.
I lived in Orchard Brook for ten years, so I know its tree-lined streets, gas lanterns, community pool and clubhouse, and established neighborhood character firsthand. That perspective helped shape my marketing for 1101 Barberry Court, which sold for $954,001 in 2025.
The same attention to neighborhood distinctions matters in Westmont, Naperville, Hinsdale, and throughout DuPage County. See my Orchard Brook real estate market update for an example of how I discuss local sales activity.
What If Your Home Didn't Sell the First Time?
One of my specialties is helping owners understand why a previous listing didn't produce an acceptable offer. Sometimes the asking price needs to change. Other times, the photographs, property presentation, buyer objections, or marketing strategy deserve another look.
Before recommending a relaunch, I review the prior listing, comparable sales, competition, showing feedback, and the home's condition. I want to understand the problem before prescribing a solution. The experience at 4825 Saratoga is a good example of why that effort matters.
How Should You Choose a Real Estate Agent in Downers Grove or DuPage County for 2027?
Whether you're preparing to sell a luxury property, downsizing, or purchasing a new home, I encourage you to ask prospective agents specific questions:
- What experience do you have in my neighborhood? Ask about comparable sales and the buyers attracted to similar homes.
- What is your preparation and marketing plan? Look for recommendations specific to your property rather than a one-size-fits-all pitch.
- What happens if showings don't lead to offers? Ask how the agent evaluates feedback and makes adjustments.
- Who will oversee my transaction? Understand how communication and responsibilities are handled.
- Can you show examples of results? Review actual transactions and detailed client feedback.
