By the first week of August, most of us who live in Westmont have already fallen into the Thursday rhythm. Cass Avenue closes at three, the folding chairs come out, and the block between Burlington and Naperville Road turns into something that is half car show, half block party, half dinner reservation. Cruisin' Nights runs Thursdays in June, July, and August from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in downtown Westmont on Cass Avenue, and the 2026 season closes on August 27. Each week has a theme, a band on the Cass and Irving stage, and a second live act inside NEAT Kitchen + Bar.

NEAT Kitchen + Bar (246 N. Cass). The location doubles as the site of the Main Stage during Taste of Westmont, which tells you how central it is to the special-events map. During Cruisin' Nights it hosts the second music act each week, so if you want to sit down to dinner and still hear a full set, this is the room to be in.
Taurasi (14 N. Cass). Taurasi's downtown Westmont location serves Southern Italian, with dinner service Wednesday through Monday from 4:00 to 9:30 p.m. The 4 p.m. open is convenient on Thursdays because you can eat before the car parade builds, then step outside as the street fills.
Dolce Restaurant & Wine Bar (13 N. Cass). Dolce is the one to know about if you haven't been by in a few months. The restaurant has been under new ownership as of May 1, 2026, and has long been part of historic downtown Westmont. It also sits at the south end of the event footprint, which matters this year because the upgraded South Stage was moved to a spot on Cass just north of Burlington, essentially at Dolce's front door.
Theme nights nudge the dinner choice more than you would expect. On Aug 13, when the Ford v. Ferrari crowd rolls in with race cars and dragsters, the south end of Cass gets loud fast, and the earlier seating at Taurasi or Dolce is the move. On Aug 27, the Grand Finale draws the biggest crowd of the four weeks, and NEAT's indoor tables become the only place you'll comfortably hear yourself think after 7 p.m.
The garage-sale weekend that lands in the middle of the run
One thing residents inherit by the second summer here is the awareness that Cruisin' Nights doesn't sit alone on the August calendar. The annual Westmont Community Garage Sales, coordinated by the Westmont Special Events organization, are scheduled for August 7, 8 and 9. That is the Friday-through-Sunday window immediately after the August 6 Imports and Movie Cars Thursday.
The practical read: side streets that fill with classic cars on Thursday fill again with garage-sale traffic starting Friday morning. If you live north of Naperville Road and use Cass to get to the Metra, the weekend gets sticky. Coming back the other direction, the garage-sale map is one of the few honest cross-sections of what people in Westmont actually own, which is more useful than most estate-content roundups tend to admit.
A few things residents learn by year two
- Cass Avenue has a 2-hour parking limit and event guests are asked not to park classic cars on Cass before 3:00 p.m., which is a courtesy to the downtown businesses that need turnover.
- Classic cars enter at Norfolk and Cass, and they parallel park by 8:45 p.m., with the streets reopening at 9. If you are picking up food to walk home with, aim to be out by 8:30.

Why the last four Thursdays feel different from the first ten
Cruisin' Nights carries some weight in the region. WGN-Radio has rated it the number one weekly summer car show in Chicagoland, and last year's events averaged almost 400 classic cars and over 2,500 guests each week. Those numbers hold roughly steady across the summer, but the August evenings have a different texture. The light is softer earlier. The regulars have picked their spots on Cass and stopped shuffling. The band lineup is denser with acts that have been circling the Special Events calendar all year, since the South Stage serves as a stepping stone for artists who are hoping to perform on the Main Stage and at other Westmont Special Events like Cruisin' Nights.
There is also the awareness, unavoidable by mid-August, that this is it. The Grand Finale on the 27th is the last unstructured Thursday downtown until next summer. The Thursday after Labor Day, Cass goes back to being Cass, and the small circle of restaurants goes back to relying on regulars rather than a weekly festival crowd.
